I’ll be offering my Seated Figure workshop this Spring at the educational and historic Brookgreen Gardens in Pawley’s Island, SC. The garden and extensive collection of American figurative art were created by legendary American sculptor, Anna Hyatt Huntington, and her husband, Archer Milton Huntington. It’s an idyllic setting and important destination for figurative sculptors. I have been fortunate to teach at Brookgreen since 2012. I recommend planning on an extra day or two to explore the collection and exhibits, as well as enjoy the gardens.
We’ll work from life in oil-based clay on an armature. Teaching methods include demonstration, lectures, and individual feedback.
Note: Casting will not be included in the curriculum. Students will complete a clay model that they take/ship home and may opt to cast independently.
